There’s nothing like a walk down memory lane, but most especially when that lane is paved with silver and gold! The tasting notes for Decanter’s World Wine Awards 2012 issue were recently released, giving us the perfect opportunity to remember the accolades and awards which our wines received earlier this year.
False Bay Chenin Blanc 2011 – Bronze medal and £ sign signifying under £10 retail
“Upfront, tropical, honey nose. Bitter citrus and ripe mandarin flavours”
Waterkloof, Circle of Life White 2010 – Gold medal (14120 entries and only 255 gold medals)
“Beautifully complex and multi-layered with shy floral, vanilla and stony, nutty aromas. Zesty lemon peel freshness and straw notes on the palate. Unique and very moreish.”
Waterkloof, Circumstance Syrah 2009 – Silver medal
“Black olive tapenade and incense nose. Rich black fruit and cocoa powder flavours. Dry, fine tannin structure. Iron fist in a velvet glove.”
The Decanter World Wine Awards is regarded as one of the most serious and comprehensive international wine competitions, and a win at the awards is respected as a remarkable achievement. Wines may be awarded a Commendation, Bronze, Silver, Gold or a Regional Trophy. Our wines are no strangers to wins at these awards, with previous accolades including golds for our Circumstance Merlot 2005 and Circumstance Syrah 2008, as well as numerous silvers, and a Regional Trophy award for our Circumstance Chenin Blanc 2009 at the 2011 awards.
Please join us in raising a glass to celebrate Werner, Christiaan and the rest of our team’s fantastic consistent performance over the past 2 years!
