What are the hottest wedding trends for 2016? How are you going to make your wedding stand out from the rest? Herewith some of the latest wedding themes to guide you:
Best Wedding Themes
1. Going Green
Everyone seems to be going back to nature. Whether it is simple flowers such as Proteas, Baby’s Breath or Fynbos. Greenery is a key theme for 2016 weddings and provides a beautiful backdrop for a natural and ethereal atmosphere. This theme is also key when you want to reduce your ecological footprint by using recycled products, up-cycled gifts and decorations as well as many other natural elements. One of the best ways to emanate a green wedding is by hiring a ‘green’ working farm as a wedding venue; one that adheres to biodynamic farming and uses organic methods to produce their goods. A good example is Waterkloof Wine Estate in the Western Cape, an officially certified biodynamic bastion, recognised for its natural approach and environmentally responsible farming. At this awe-inspiring estate cutting edge sustainable endeavours and untamed, natural winemaking reign supreme.
Old is the new trend. From rustic chandeliers to lace and pearls, vintage is a very popular wedding theme in 2016. This is often portrayed through pastel colours, cream roses, but with touches of bold drama. Think antiques and gold accents and you will have a vintage themed wedding to be proud of. A good way to capture the vintage theme is to hire an old building as a wedding venue, such as a Johannesburg, Sir Herbert Baker House or a Cape Dutch style building. The ideas are endless!
3. Twilight Forest
This wedding theme may have gained inspiration from the Edward Cullen and Bella Swan love story however it is definitely a much warmer and inviting theme than in the movie. Think fairy lights twinkling across pine trees and wooden bridges across a forest stream, that is the idea behind the twilight forest wedding theme. An excellent wedding venue for this theme would of course be a natural forest. Places such as the Midlands and Dullstroom have a variety of wedding venues where one can tie the knot deep in the heart of a pine forest.
A Rose Quartz and Serenity combination has been named as the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2016. This is the inspiration for a pastel wedding theme. Using the combination of the two hues of colour creates a soft and delicate atmosphere. These, together with other pastel colours, can open up a wide variety of ideas to choose from for bridesmaid dresses, flowers and decorations. Other favourite wedding colours for 2016 also include Peach Echo, Limpet Shell, Buttercup and Lilac Grey. A wedding venue that would complement a pastel wedding theme would be a beach venue or a Bedouin tent in a garden. The natural light would work well with the pastel colours.
Whichever wedding theme you decide to choose for your wedding, remember that your unique stamp and personality should always shine through. Good luck and happy wedding theme deliberating!
