10 Reasons Why Waterkloof is the perfect choice
Such an exciting time. You’re engaged, you’re planning your dream wedding, friends are gawking at your ring and you are bursting with excitement. But like all newly engaged couples planning the wedding can be slightly daunting and usually starts with choosing a wedding venue. Do you choose a wedding venue in town, or out of town, at the beach or in the bush? Perhaps even a Cape winelands wedding venue? All these questions and more will crop up. We have therefore put together 10 Reasons why Waterkloof is the perfect wedding venue, so that at least one aspect of your Dream Day is sorted.
1. The View
Waterkloof Estate is one of the few wine estates in the Cape winelands that also has a view of the ocean. Perched on the slopes of the Schapenberg, Waterkloof Estate has perfect vistas of the surrounding Helderberg Mountains as well as False Bay glistening in the distance. If unique and picturesque wedding photos are what you want, then Waterkloof provides the perfect backdrop.
2. The Food
Waterkloof Estate is home to an Eat Out Top Ten Restaurant. Not only will Chef Gregory Czarnecki whet the appetites of all your wedding guests with his contemporary classics but he also places an emphasis on using only the freshest seasonal ingredients, many of which are grown on Waterkloof itself. If you are looking for sophisticated, classical cuisine with a whimsical edge, complemented by seamless service and served up with awe-inspiring views, then Waterkloof is your answer.
3. The Reception Venue
Not only will the food completely wow your wedding guests but the reception area in which they dine is spectacular. The Restaurant at Waterkloof is also known as the “Restaurant in the Sky” for one simple reason… you really do feel like you’re dining in the clouds. The restaurant is stylishly appointed in a 10 metre high glass promontory with 180 degree views of the beautiful vineyards, majestic mountains and sparkling ocean. To say that this view is breathtaking is an understatement. Not only is the Restaurant spectacular but the whole Waterkloof building embodies modern architecture and minimalistic décor at its finest. For those that enjoy the finer things in life, Waterkloof is definitely the perfect wedding venue for you.
4. The Ceremony Venue
Waterkloof is uniquely different in its offering of a ceremony venue. Instead of a traditional chapel, Bride and Groom say their vows in The Barrel Room, which is a gorgeous contemporary setting framed by large wooden wine barrels. If the weather permits vows can also be exchanged outside on the elevated lawn.
Waterkloof is situated in Somerset West which is very easy for wedding guests to travel to from just about anywhere. It is a 35 minute drive from Cape Town International Airport and a 45 minute drive into Cape Town City and is in the heart of the cape winelands. There are a large number of guesthouses, B&B’s and hotels in the area. There are also taxis, car rentals and Uber in the area so transport for your wedding guests should be no problem at all.
6. The People
When choosing a wedding venue you will want to work with people that understand your vision and can help you to achieve it. Waterkloof prides itself in having a team of skilled and passionate personnel available to discuss and organise your wedding. They have many years’ experience at hosting weddings and can offer their expert advice as well as calm the nerves on the day. Many compliments have been given to the Waterkloof team in the past, here is one of them:
“The team at Waterkloof are professional and so helpful that I could plan my entire wedding from Johannesburg and visit just once, and it was more perfect than I could’ve imagined. They know what they are doing!” Nikita & Andre
7. The Ethos
Waterkloof Wines achieved its Biodiversity Champion status in 2008. This means that all farming on Waterkloof is truly Biodynamic and the ethos of doing what is best for nature is of paramount importance. Biodynamic farming is an imperfect, natural agricultural process of cultivation based on the “sensitive intelligence” of an interconnected natural world. This ethos is embodied in all areas of Waterkloof from grapes to food ingredients, and the belief of leaving as little footprint on the earth as possible is evident in all areas.
8. The Wedding Packages
The wedding packages at Waterkloof offer great versatility and offer an unsurpassed fine dining experience for your guests. There are both 2016 and 2017 rates available.
9. The Elegance
If it’s elegance you’re looking for then it’s elegance you will get in abundance at Waterkloof. From the beautifully blended wood, steel and glass architecture to the cutlery and crockery. Waterkloof stops at nothing to provide the most sophisticated of experiences for all its guests and bridal couples.
10. The Wine
And last but definitely not least, the wine. Why would you choose to be married on a working wine farm if you didn’t enjoy sampling its wares? Waterkloof’s aim is to produce “honest” wines that truly express their unique site on the Schapenberg. The Waterkloof grapes are turned into wine with minimal intervention and maximum care. There are four brands to choose from and these are Waterkloof, Circle of Life, Circumstance and Seriously Cool. All with their own character and style.
