Waterkloof has won the Independent Wine Review (IWR) 2013 National Award for South Africa!
Despite a heavy specialist focus on the wines of Italy at The Independent Wine Review, hundreds of wines from other countries are also reviewed each year and are eligible for “National” level awards at the IWR Awards.
Whilst a particular depth of coverage was provided to Australia, Argentina, America and Burgundy (in France) this year, wines from 10 countries attained scores in excess of 90 points this year and are celebrated in this feature.
One of the celebrated wines is our Circle of Life White 2011, which won the award for South Africa and received a 94 point rating! The IWR feature has this to say about our winning wine:
Some wines are enduringly impressive and that is true of Waterkloof’s “Circle of Life”, which this year returned to become South Africa’s top scoring wine, having won the award in 2011. Slightly more oak orientated than in the previous vintage, Waterkloof’s “Circle of Life” White is an enticing blend of biodynamically cultivated Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes produced with a “hands-off” philosophy that really allows character to emerge in the resultant wine.
