HOW… DID YOU MEET?
We were set up! A mutual friend invited both of us to her birthday lunch. Steve had been in a bike accident the week before, and arrived with one broken wrist in plaster… and the other fractured wrist strapped up in a brace. I jokingly offered to assist to lend a helping hand with whatever arose! After that, we hit it off – we spent most of the time chatting, and had our first smooch hiding behind the kitchen door early that same evening.
WHY… DID YOU CHOOSE WATERKLOOF?
We’d had a few lunches at Waterkloof already and always loved the food, attention to detail, building and stunning view. When we started considering venues for our wedding, Waterkloof was always our first choice. We wanted a venue that reflected where we lived (beautiful mountains, vineyards and the sea) and when we saw the versatility and ability to have everything at one venue – as well as the great reception we received from the staff – it was an easy choice.
WHAT… WERE YOU FAVOURITE DISHES AND WINES?
We both loved the Peacock Ridge Chenin Blanc and still buy it by the case! My favourite dish was the “Death by Chocolate” dessert with at least 10 delicious elements. Steve struggles to chose between the Monk Fish with Crispy Prawn, and the Smiling Valley Marron.
WHAT… IS YOUR BEST MEMORY OF THE DAY?
Our families and friends, attentive staff, fabulous food from Chef Greg, stunning views, and a magical rainbow appearing at the end of our photo session to bless our union!
