Planning the perfect wedding day can be incredibly daunting yet also very exciting. We chatted to a few Newlyweds to find out if they would do anything differently on their big day and if they have any advice for planning, organising and enjoying your big day.
Top Wedding Planning Tips from Newlyweds
1. “Don’t get caught up in perfection”
The perfect wedding day is all about what is right for you as a couple. Simon and Clare who were married in the Cape Winelands earlier this year heed this piece of advice. Says Clare; “if you are worried about what can go wrong as well as the tiniest of details you won’t enjoy your wedding at all. I picked 3 things that were the most important to me, made sure that those happened and the rest… well I just left that to fate. That to me was a far more enjoyable day than being absolutely perfect the whole time!”
Do you want your wedding guests to go away talking about the food, the party, the wedding venue or all three? If budget is an issue then choose what is most important to you. If it’s the party you want to have for your friends and family then it’s a good idea to allocate budget to the DJ and bar, with plenty of room to dance. If you want your guests to enjoy a getaway beach wedding then your budget should be allocated to a suitable beach wedding venue. As a couple, list 10 things that are important to each of you and try to meet somewhere in the middle. This is a point that Lauren and Adriaan who were married in Somerset West in April advised and we couldn’t agree more.
3. “Celebrate your Love”
Adi says that when she got married in Franschhoek last year she was overwhelmed by the complete love and attention that she felt throughout the wedding build-up as well as on her actual wedding day. “The reason we were getting married was not for the wedding, it was because we wanted to celebrate our love with those that mattered most in our lives. We also wanted to thank everyone for their support throughout our lives and our relationship. It was a very emotional day but that was perfect for me. I didn’t want my wedding day to be about the cake or the flower arrangements, I wanted it to be about Nick, myself and all those we love.”
4. “Choose a wedding venue that means something to you”
“Andre took me to Waterkloof on a date many years ago and it has always felt magical to us!” Says Nikita about her November wedding at Waterkloof Wine Estate in Somerset West. It seems that couples who choose a wedding venue that is sentimental to them, end up enjoying their wedding a bit more. The day seems to be slightly more magical and romantic. Whether it’s choosing a venue because of its name, location, memories or beauty, it’s important that you both, as a couple, love the venue.
If you’re dreaming of a Winelands wedding venue then hosting your wedding at a Cape wedding venue is truly a magical experience. Waterkloof hosts many weddings per year and is an expert in organising, hosting and making sure that your wedding is the best day of your life. Professionalism, style, elegance and sophistication are all synonymous with Waterkloof.
