Circle of Life White was launched in Ontario this week through LCBO’s fine wine arm, Vintages. If you’d like to get hold of a bottle through Vintages, you can do so here .
In the meantime, take a look at some of the Canadian press reviews that have already come in for our “Stellenbosch super blend”:
Sarah D’Amato (Wine Align): “A Stellenbosch super blend of sauvignon blanc, chenin blanc and chardonnay that had me at first sniff. Very careful, very slow wild yeast fermentation of grapes that have been farmed using biodynamic practices has resulted in a very natural feeling wine with almost imperceptible oak and glorious fruit expression.” http://www.winealign.com/articles/2016/07/07/buyers-guide-to-vintages-july-9th-2016/
John Szabo (Wine Align): “Paul Boutinot, of French extraction but raised in England, set about searching for his ideal terroir. Ten years later, in 1993, he found it in Stellenbosch, on the south-facing slopes of the Schapenberg, overlooking False Bay in the Cape. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tasted from this beautiful property, including this intensely flavoured, medium-full-bodied blend of sauvignon, chenin, and chardonnay. It delivers significant density and weight, not to mention complexity at the price, with a range of citrus, orchard and tropical fruit. It’s not a summer sipper; there’s too much edginess (light acetic volatility), but that only adds to the character. Reserve for grilled chicken or high intensity fish dishes.” http://www.winealign.com/articles/2016/07/07/buyers-guide-to-vintages-july-9th-2016/
Natalie Maclean (www.nataliemaclean.com): “Something wonderful here! A gorgeous blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay grapes in this luscious South African white wine. Aromas of smoke, green apple, butter and smoke. Perfect for grilled chicken. 91/100
Food pairings: fried herb-crusted and panko trout, chickpea lentil pea and potato curry, pizza with pork sausage.
Scrumptious Seafood Wine” http://www.nataliemaclean.com/wine-reviews/waterkloof-circle-of-life-2012/229513
Ottawa Life: “Although Circle of Life reminds me of a Disney movie, the winery has certainly taken it’s title seriously embracing a sense of origin with the bio-dynamic vineyards. I found this wine unusual in taste. I’m not sure whether it was the forest, almost tree-like aromas or that there was so much going on with its Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc (also known as Steen in South Africa) blend. Some tropical fruit, yellow apple and lime mingles with a pinch of honey on the aftertaste making this medium bodied blend very smooth and satisfying. I liked it immediately and can’t wait to pick up a bottle to enjoy with seafood.” http://www.ottawalife.com/2016/07/if-i-only-had-100i-would-buy-at-lcbo-vintages-8/
