CIRCUMSTANCE SYRAH IN DECANTER’S 30 GREAT SOUTH AFRICAN SYRAH BUYS
There is no doubting the excitement surrounding Syrah from South Africa right now. It’s hot, but not in a jammy, over-ripe and one-dimensional way. No, they can be much cooler these days, with complexity and a wild, savory finesse to rival even The Northern Rhone. Decanter Contributing Editor Matt Walls has a special interest in the wines of The Rhone, so it would be fair to say he knows this amazing grape pretty well and we were really encouraged with what he had to say about Syrah in South Africa:

After tasting through a range of the country’s finest, he selected Circumstance Syrah 2017 in his 30 GREAT BUYS noting that the wine was “very well priced” and awarding it a score of 92 points. Consistent recognition of the value for money to be found inside our wines is something we take great fulfilment in, not only with our False Bay wines, but also with our sustainable, biodynamic wines from Waterkloof. We’re out to prove that delicious wines needn’t cost the earth.
