Welcome to Harvest 2013. It is my favourite time of the year. The sun rises around 05h50 in the morning over the Hottentots Holland Mountain range, basking the whole farm in glorious sunshine. Everything just steps up a gear and your senses become alive with the delight of a working wine farm. The excitement amongst everyone is tangible, and there is a raw energy in the air. It’s a bustle of activity as we prepare ourselves for the 2013 harvest. Christiaan and his vineyard team sample the grapes daily to check the ripeness, while Nadia & Jacques test all the equipment in the cellar to ensure that we are ready for processing. Our green brigade of Percheron horses are trained, t and healthy, ready for the task of bringing in the first Waterkloof grapes. This is what the whole Waterkloof team has been working towards the whole year. This is when we all pull together, man, machine, animal to make our honest, special Waterkloof Wines… Just for you.
