“We are seeing more and more South African cinsault on the market. This may be the best I have tasted…”
As the very first feedback arrived in our inbox, we began to get excited. The SAQ – responsible for the trade of all alcoholic beverages throughout the province of Quebec – released our Seriously Cool Cinsault last month and, courtesy of our agents Sélections Oeno, we sent a few Cinsault-shaped care packages to some of Quebec’s wine journalists.
And happily, our excitement as for very good reason. Our Seriously Cool Cinsault went on to make a splash across the media waves, with seriously cool features and tasting notes – including an outstanding review in the Montreal Gazette, Quebec’s most renowned English publication!
Without further ado, it’s our great pleasure to highlight some of these mentions with you. Please share these with your wine loving friends and family in Quebec, or indeed – if you’re in the province – try our Seriously Cool Cinsault from the SAQ (order online here) and let us know your experience!

“We are seeing more and more South African cinsault on the market. This may be the best I have tasted…
Make no mistake: these are lighter-style reds. But they can be so wonderfully fruit-driven while maintaining a level of seriousness. Waterkloof’s cinsault shows mostly red berry notes, but has an alluring spice and floral component. There’s even a little tannic note on the finish. Seriously Cool is seriously tasty, and ideal as an apéritif with snacks.”

“Very light cinsault with contagious drinkability. Blind, one could think of a nice Gamay from Beaujolais or Touraine. Well scented with notes of strawberry, melon, vanilla bean and cinnamon.
A crunchy fruitiness on the palate with smooth tannins and an impression that is both gourmet and invigorating.”

“During my stay in South Africa, I had the chance to taste with the young and talented winemaker Nadia Langenegger who shapes each cuvée with know-how, dedication and love. This Cool Cinsault is one of my favourites from its [Waterkloof] range.”

“Straight away it reminds me of a Beaujolais… The mouth is crunchy and of a beautiful sapidity with a very fresh acidity and drinkable tannins. Flavours of cranberries and strawberries harmonize with notes of sweet spices to culminate in a fruity aromatic profile. And what freshness!”
