An update on Waterkloof’s involvement with Empowerment Project at Sir Lowry’s Pass Primary School in the Sir Lowry’s Pass Village:
In 2013, as part of our ongoing efforts to assist the residents of Sir Lowry’s Pass Village – an impoverished community in our area – we provided funds to help build a new Literacy Centre at the Sir Lowry’s Pass Village Primary School. We also appealed to the public to assist us with collecting books to fill the shelves.
This year, we funded the provision of custom-made furniture for 2 of the 8 classrooms. These have since been officially named the Waterkloof Classrooms.
The centre (see images below) can now provide more than 1,300 classes per week for the community. Educational books and supplies are always in critical need and we would like to invite you to please donate any age-appropriate (3-13 years) books that you may have available, as well as any backpacks, stationery or other educational materials. Please feel free to drop these off at our Tasting Room when you next visit.
Should you have any queries or wish to assist this project in other ways, please contact Claudia on 021 858 1292 or send her an email. We thank you for your generosity!
