The beautiful bride from one of our recent gorgeous weddings shares a few memories of her special day with her Prince Charming on 13 December.
HOW… DID YOU TWO MEET?
I became friends with Justin’s sister and we met at her birthday party over 5 years ago. As sceptical as we both were with regards to all things love and romance, there is definitely some truth to the saying “love at first sight” and we both knew from the minute we met that this was “it”. I always say to him that when we first met, my initial thought was “Oh dear, here comes trouble”… and I was right!
WHY… DID YOU CHOOSE WATERKLOOF?
Waterkloof has been a family favourite for years and we have had many special celebrations and family gatherings there. It’s a stunning place that exudes good energy and that’s how we wanted to start our lives together. We wanted to treat our guests to the best views, food, service and atmosphere that the Cape has to offer, so Waterkloof was the easiest decision we made and didn’t even visit another venue! Added to this our family wine farm, Highberry, is close by and we had our ceremony there.
WHICH… WATERKLOOF WINE AND DISH WERE YOUR FAVOURITES?
I will never be able to choose a favourite wine, so I’m not even going to try! Chef Gregory is nothing less than a genius and I have never had anything other than an excellent meal at Waterkloof. I think the beef fillet we had at our wedding was a winner.
WHAT… IS YOUR BEST MEMORY OF THE DAY?
During dinner, I took a moment to just stop and take everything in. I heard all the laughter from our friends and family, the clinking of wine glasses, music playing, kids running around… all our favourite people together in one place, feasting and talking, reconnecting and having such a good time, and it just made me so happy! I will never forget that feeling. There were many highlights that will stay with us forever.
DESCRIBE… YOUR WEDDING AT WATERKLOOF IN ONE SENTENCE?
The best views, food, service and atmosphere in the Cape and the happiest day of our lives.
WHAT… ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR FUTURE BRIDES?
Take time to speak to each and every single guest at your wedding. Also, don’t worry so much about how you look and when people need to do what, just get the basics covered: Venue, food, dress, music, guests, photographer and let everything else be secondary. It will all come together and it will be the best day of your life!
