HOW…DID YOU MEET?
I am originally from Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape and James grew up in Somerset West. We now live in Cape Town. Our best friends are first cousins, so we met through them 8 years ago, but it took us 7 years before we actually started dating. 1 year later, we are married!
WHY…DID YOU CHOOSE WATERKLOOF?
We fell in love with Waterkloof the moment we saw it and didn’t even bother to look at any other wedding venues. We loved everything about it, from the setting, to the food and wine – just everything! We loved the fact that it wasn’t one of your traditional “pretty” wine farm wedding venues, and the architecture combined with the stunning views is just sublime. Also, dealing with everybody at Waterkloof was just such a pleasure, from start to finish, and they really did everything possible to help make our day perfect!
WHAT…IS YOUR BEST MEMORY OF THE DAY?
Everything! If we have to choose just one, it would be our ceremony which we held outside, right at the front of Waterkloof, overlooking the whole bay. It was like James and I were the only 2 people there, and everything and everybody else just faded away. It was very special!
WHAT…IS YOUR FAVOURITE WATERKLOOF WINE?
Circle of Life White – it is now the only white wine we drink!
WHAT… WAS YOUR FAVOURITE DISH?
Wow, that is SO hard to choose. The Camembert Brulee was sublime and the fillet was also amazing. We have now eaten at Waterkloof a number of times and we have never been anything but blown away.
DO YOU…HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES?
Try and outsource as much as you can. If you can get a wedding planner, even better. My wedding planner, Joanne Rose-Innes, was the biggest blessing in my life and really took our ideas and made our fairytale come true! Don’t worry about the small stuff – at the end of the day, it’s about you and your husband and this amazing commitment you are making to each other. Nothing else really matters.
